Passage of Time

Passage of Time

A Poem by MCS
"

“When we look at the world rationally, the world looks rationally back.” ~ Hegel, G. W. H.

"

Quiet woods

Watching birds in flight

Time seems to stop

Knowing when I blink

Reality awaits with a jolt

Aware of the turbulence out there

Headlines will stir up

What has been calm waters

Waves crashing again

Storm returns

Anxiety fully awake

I push on

Nature has a serene quality and calms the senses but the man made world is in chaos most of the time. I can feel this poem to my core

You are welcome
Nature does offer respite from the calamity of the outside world and the crazy inhabitants that sleek through the streets looking for destruction.

Great painting to compliment the poem. Your words here are sparse but effective.
Your words: profession and artfully done.

LOL I personally believe they are at the root cause.
This writing is a wonderful reminder of nature’s ability to provide calm amongst the craziness human drama. Thank you for sharing your writing.

Lisa, thank you so much for your comment, craziness indeed.
first off, nice painting.

the poem reminds me of "Dover Beach" by M. Arnold, and the dichotomy there:

"The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair" - the serenity of nature

"the world...
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain" - the turbulence of human societies

Laz, thank you for your kind words and visit; its so appreciated.
i try not to watch too much news. i love going deep into the words and seemingly away from the madness of humanity - it's like a different world with a silence that is deafening. anything and anywhere that hasn't been touched by humanity is where i prefer to be - probably why i don't like cities and prefer the country. creation is perfect as is the craftsman of it thus one can never go wrong having a healthy respect for it. nicely worded reminder.
