To be able to write so beautifully about such tragedies, plural, is a near miracle. Don't know whether to tear up or applaud your skill... perhaps shall do both. Guess I need to thank you for stressing what was going on in your country; indeed, around the world. Evil numbers still increasing.
Thank you for allowing me to read this post, a gift.. especially, 'Silver misty horizon ~ Bare branches interwoven ~ The silence of death '

Wow. Your closing verse nearly took my breath away. The enormity of each line is beyond measure. It's simply the caliber of your craft!

Yesterday the USA covid death toll almost reached 4000 -- one third of the global daily total! Nobody mentions it, among all the petty crap people foment about constantly & I wonder why it seems to go so unacknowledged. I wrote an inflammatory poem about it (Cadaver Christmas) & your poem feels like the anti-inflammatory corollary to mine. I'm not at all good about expressing true deep feelings, so your throbbingly real & urgent poem feels very satisfying to me, much more satisfying than my own flippant attempts to address this travesty. Thank you for treating this like the beautiful precious tragedy that it is (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I've just stumbled across your page on accident, and greatly appreciate the care you take in your font selection, and format. It is quite succinct, in the way it appears, and the final stanza echoed that sentiment for me.
It can be far too easy, focusing on the abstractions of the world today and the senselessness that information seems to be distributed by, that we often forget how tragic a thing this pandemic really is. From last I checked, the death toll had surpassed the seven figure mark, and many of those whom have passed have been elderly - grandparents, loved ones and loved ones left with grieving families.
Thank you for sharing, at times I think I need to be reminded that this thing goes beyond the discomforts of my own little world.

A very appropriate epitaph for 2020 here. The poet builds a mood nicely by simply describing the surroundings. After a walk in this graveyard, heavy feelings do indeed descend. The notation of "its careless mishandling" is an implication of the anger that subtly accompanies the feelings of gloom. Let this horrifying year pass ASAP.
