A Poem by MCS
"

Anxiety is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained. ~ Arthur Somers Roche

"

it feels like

everything and nothing

always the same…yet different

an endless torrent

drowning in thoughts

real and unreal…fear is wild

throbbing in my head

choking back cries

this level of anxiety…drives me insane

feeling trapped

yet free to go

rooted to this spot…paralyzed

nothing wrong

yet nothing feels right

fear and sadness…take over

so much potential energy that becomes kinetic or inert...so many possibilities but too scared of failure to move...freezes us.

We all feel stressed on occasion, but what this poem describes goes far beyond that. Verse 3 is a testimony of fear rising to the level of panic, with no way out. The word "trapped" in the next verse is most apt. Something like this needs treatment, and soon. When fear turns to sadness with no relief in sight, very bad things can happen.
