Shadow SongA Poem by MCSA cardinal sang in the early hours I heard it in the shadows of that place between sleep and awake January second dawned cold and grey thin flakes of snow fell silent like friends who don’t require words awareness rushed forward like an assault to the senses today marks four years since you’ve been gone inhaling allows sorrow’s gnarled fingers to grip my heart I once again relive those moments of losing you seeing your body but not sensing you your absence is something I cannot reconcile daily I’m aware that you’re not here one does not get over loss we just make room for it and in doing that pieces of the self are extinguished © 2016 MCSReviews
