Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by MCS

In an echoless life

in the pale light of

the full moon

Ashes scatter the floor

of dreams now dead

is what surrounds me

Dark sad eyes

no longer able to shed tears

stare at the floor

Snapshots of how life was

filed away in my mind

remembering brings such pain

My shadow clings

to the scattered ashes

as I fade away

The taste of blood

makes me aware

I’ve bitten my lip

Cold fingertips touch the spot

red the only colour

I’ve noticed in a while

Beautiful poem. I feel the sadness of 'dreams now dead' as if why bother to sleep. Well done.
