Winter Lingers

Winter Lingers

A Poem by MCS

It’s March the lane

is draped in damp cold

snow has left for now

but the ground

is hard and barren

nothing around

but the dirt

winter leaves behind

in the distance

the ice is thawing

soon open water

and boats

along with coloured sails

but today

the landscape is

still bleak

and devoid of colour

in the distance

a dog barks

he too is tired

of winter

snow and cold
