A Portrait

A Poem by MCS
"

Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new. ~ Brian Tracy

"

I’m here now

wondering why I’ve come

Not overly fond

of this life drawing class

Dislike working out in the open

with prying eyes upon me

Somehow this level of discomfort

forces me to shed layers that get in my way

Today’s subject holds my interest

here eyes, speak volumes

Yet she has this look

that her voice is smothered

Her eyes find mine and look away

she’s found that I too am voiceless

She stands in the arena

as the rest of us hide behind easels

She seems freer

she’s shed her layers

As we draw lines

that separates us even further
