Rushing Waters

Rushing Waters

A Poem by MCS

I want to harness the power

of those rushing waters

that thundering sound

reverberating in my chest

Cold crisp blues, icy whites

cascading past me

with a speed that

takes my breath away

I do not trust these waters

this ribbon of blue and white

has the power to pummel me

yet I’m drawn here

The violent sound

of rushing waters

push past me

and I’m under its spell

I’ve spent the summer

coming here

heavy backpack on my back

weighed down with my tools

I’ve wielded a brush, mixed paint

applied countless strokes

and the rushing waters

elude me
