Infinitive in Blue

Infinitive in Blue

A Poem by MCS

To be invisible among the crowd

To be wearing a distant look

              To be bent by responsibility

                     To be saying nothing

                            To be swallowing one’s words

                                   To be retreating inward

     To be hearing without reaction

            To be on guard

                   To be wanting without receiving

To be standing by the sea

                                   To be tasting salt

To be walking into the surf

              To be carried away

                      To be hoping for more

To be dissolved into deep blue

                                      To be one with all
