Sometimes Words Fail

Sometimes Words Fail

A Poem by MCS

When words fail me

they jam against my lips

my tongue becoming numb

I struggle to speak

but nothing

A steel lid upon my mouth

desperation stirring within

I slide into fear

dark and thick as tar

my heart thuds wildly

I strain against the backlog of words

breathing becomes harder

pulse losing its rhythmic count

sometimes words fail

me
