When it RainsA Poem by MCSToday I awoke to the sound of rain much to wet to work in the garden
Carried out simple tasks like making coffee
Ambled into the studio it felt cold today
Perhaps it’s the drab light windows streaked with rain
Preparing a canvas spreading a thick white coat
A thought came to me life is like a pearl
It starts with a small grain and grows into what we make of it
I wonder what my pearl looks like does it shine cool and white
Or am I a dark lustrous one with a silvery sheen
I watched my hands hard at work I’ve aged yet I’m still strong
The rain fall caught my attention the sound heavy as it hit the glass
Tiny pearls of rain bleeding into clear rivulets
Obscuring my view yet I can still hear the wind chimes
Watching my hands measuring out colours muted as the scene before me
Interesting how the lack of sun changes one’s landscape
Now my thoughts wonder as my hands work and colours spread
They range from life to death and everything in between
One thought lingers when my time comes
Will death feel heavy or light is it true that one’s loved ones await
Or will there be nothing but an infinity of black
Perhaps it’s an eternity of white light
Lost in a swirl of thought the rain stops
A streak of sunlight falls across my hands
Thoughts shift to the now and all that’s yet to come The life that I could still live, I should live and the thoughts that I could still think I should think. ~C. G. Jung, The Red Book © 2013 MCSAuthor's Note
