Expanding My HorizonsA Poem by MCSI have decided to get out and take a class
Figure drawing fit into my busy schedule first class this past week
Twelve students mixed gender and ages
Center platform circle of easels basket of metal clips
Hated introductions carried out in nervous voices
I’m beginning to wonder why I thought this would be a good idea
I know myself I don’t like working in the presence of others
In walks the model pleasant looking woman my gut clenches
Now I have to work instructor walks about looking over my shoulder
Why am I here I’m an idiot I knew I would hate this
The sound of charcoal scraping over paper the flipping of pages
All familiar sounds taking me back to earlier days the realization that I’ve never enjoyed this
The sight of my blackened fingers moving quickly yet I glance at the model and clock
I can’t wait to get out of here looking at my drawings today not so bad but will I be back © 2013 MCSAuthor's Note
