take a u-turn here

take a u-turn here

11-5-18 // something i wrote within the last 20 minutes. kinda stream-of-consciousness. not very good but at least i'm writing.

"

A moment, a day, a life to be seized

Countless paths waiting to be covered in footprints unique to you

Another day, another chance

Another city, another world

How many lips among the billions, begging for your kiss

How many hearts saving a spot among the clutter for you alone

And, decades from now, when you look back on this

Just one moment of many

Will you remember me

Just one girl of many

And the regret-filled autumn night you once wrote of

Just one missed opportunity of many

Will the creak of the swinging bench still be etched in your memory

Or will the feel of my hand in yours

Be lost amidst the many others

Are we the ships Longfellow wrote of?

Passing in the night

Lost without a guiding light

All at once inches and miles away

And I can’t help but wonder

What might’ve been, what must’ve been

Had life taken a left turn instead of a right

If the butterfly’s fragile wings have the thunderous potential of a typhoon

Might our brush with ardor have that same effect

In another time; in another dimension

Because it’s not one-sided

I dreamt of your slender fingers touching me the way they do the ivory keys

Eliciting a song in an exact same but completely new way

But you deserve a hurricane in the form of a girl

And my heart’s too weary to summon more than a breeze
