The go away girl

The go away girl

A Poem by Anthony Garcia

she'd hang up portraits of her saviors

Morrissey, Brandon Boyd, and Jesus Christ

sliced up her wrists shallow cause she's too interesting to be heard

composed half requiems of both glee and regret

she cuts her hair too short

cause she'd be horrified if you called her beautiful

I've spent countless nights admiring her freezing breath

I took in every little bit of her bitter rebuttals

of government, of society, and religion

and marveled in her reckless abandonment of conformity

but she took it all away

left me high, wet, and alone

and the sky is now coming down

with raindrops from my eyes

she wouldn’t take me with
