A Poem by Anthony Garcia
"

if you like this title it for me =]

"

pen pal breakup

like lions in zoos

missing the romps

and freedom of the

pride land stumps

I cried for you

for only three years

then burned your letters

with tears

I let you go

if you and I were face to face

we'd be more like cheek to cheek

LAX to London, three years ago

it really meant from lovers to strangers

there is one last thing to burn

This is my first review, so please bear with me. This was an enjoyable little read, but it didn't really engage or move me as much as it should have done. i'm not sure what is meant by the pride land stumps, it sounds to me, like a hasty rhyme device. The middle verse is the best to me, and the most moving. 'Burned your letters' has impact and imagery. The third verse loses a bit of direction and the rhyme scheme disappointingly completely disappears. i am also unsure of the grammar regarding 'really meant from lovers to strangers'. The last line, although nicely prosaic, is a bit of a mystery to me. This piece does need a title though - perhaps 'Letters Pray' or 'Letters Go' or ''LAX to London' ? Good luck with the writing.
