Former Child Stars

Former Child Stars

A Poem by Anthony Garcia
"

who we were in High School, who we were.

"

Some of you used to refer to me by a nickname
And I would light up whenever I heard a familiar voice
But those days are too few and far between
And im forgetting all your faces

I used to be so important
Touching so many lives
But that was then and this is now
I am no longer that popular high school clown

I used to tell people that I loved them
And it was all too true
But the people are off and scattered
No one left, not him or even you

You used to call me every day
And we’d talk till we were sleeping
But my phone is cold and my ear is too
I guess you found a better shoulder

To help you out while you are grieving
To cry on, rely on, but you know I’ve always cared
I’ve lost everything I’ve loved
And I was far from prepared

So when I hear that nickname
I toss a glance and look
But no familiar faces
Are written in my book
