Castle Builders

Castle Builders

A Poem by Anthony Garcia
"

we all build up our walls... but we should look for the kid with balloons in his hand.

"

There once was this boy who lived in this castle.
So high up you can view the whole world.

The castle was built on fears and regret,
Every failure was another brick that he set.

The castle was amazing, so beautify structured,
With ribbons of red from his heart that was punctured.

And all of his friends,
And all of his loved ones.
Grew so tired of climbing the massive tower,
They simply stopped coming.
And the boy was alone, all alone like a dummy.

The boy kept on building,
To go higher and higher.
The boy never slept so he never got tired.
Just kept piling more brick,
And cementing more stone.

The boy was so lonely,
The boy was in need-
The castle a prison,
To far up to be freed.

He then started thinking-
“why, oh why was it me”,

Then the reason reminded,
“you were too scared to be seen”.
Not in the flesh, but in who he really was,
A poor fragile boy, too scared to be loved.

For there once was this girl,
Who lived in a castle.

The boy grew to like her,
The like turned to love.
So he poured out his heart,
And sent her a dove.
She sent the dove back,
With a note then attached,
“I know that you love me,
I know that we’d soar,
But my castle’s too high,
And my heart is no more”.
            So the boy began building,
And then forgot why.
So he built and he built,
Up into the sky.

He just kept on building,
Till he then forgot why.

All that he knew,
Was the love unreturned,
And the pain left inside.

So he built it up higher,
And higher than that.
Till he stood up in space,
And there he just sat.
