Turbulent

Turbulent

A Poem by Kelly
"

A poem about complicated relationships

"

You're my thunderstorm,
an ever-changing wind
carrying your voice to me.
I count the seconds
between your smile and your laugh

one

two

three

estimating
the distance between
your lungs and your lips.
Where's your heart?
I press my ear against your chest
...only thunder, never lightning
If I pulled you apart, could I finally see
where it strikes?

Or maybe the light would go out
and your words wouldn't boom across plains
for me, for me, for me.
Instead, only whispers
ghosts of plundered meanings.

I watch your smiles
and hear your laughs
and count only the seconds
until you reach me
and it rains.

Very cleverful and interesting piece. We or some of us get in relationships that are very much complicated. Some days they are like a thunderstorm (scary and just makes you want to be quiet), then there are days they are like rain (soothing, calming, and wanting to write beautiful words or make beautiful words). This poem was very consistent and it flowed beautifully...like water off a beautiful deltoid leaf. Excellent read! Keep exercising your gift.
