a familiar stranger

a familiar stranger

A Poem by inkstainedsoul

i've lived in many houses
but never had a home
i'm doomed to walk this earth
forever be alone
as people sprint past
never pausing to ask
if i need a hand with
my arduous task
some of them slow
to lean on my spine
some even support me
just for a time
yet nobody stays
they all move on
i close my eyes to trust them
once i open them they're gone
you helped me dear stranger
though i recognise your face
you seem so familiar
have we met some other place?
i beg of you kind stranger
as i watch history replay
hold me in your arms
even just for one day

You create a lonely journey and hopeful ending. I like the tone of the poem leading to the strong ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Truth filled
And i know this feeling one too many times

And of course they all promise the earth and moon

You were just thinking dinner and a movie lol

Love it

This is jaded on so many levels but real and raw forcall of that. Add a great structure and fairly tight rhyme scheme and you have a great write.
I have to agree with Anto that this makes your readers want to wrap the protagonist up in their arms and show the world is notvalways a cruel place. Theirs a danger inherent in that too..but thats for anotjer post.

This is really affecting. I wanted to hug the narrator and carry them for a while such was the intensity of world weariness I felt. The imagery is beyond good.
