books

page after page
further i fall
i'm lost in a maze
of a sirens call

word after word
eyes flying side to side
drinking them in
as i laughed and i cried

life after life
i fall in love with a friend
only to break
at that dear friends end

book after book
i have lived a thousand lives
been chased down and hunted
for a thousand different crimes

world after world
books are my reality
i can travel all over
and be home in time for tea
