Arise once more from thy slumber

Arise once more from thy slumber

A Poem by InkSlinger

The musk of the early morning rises

to meet my falling breath

awakened by thundering voice

long left lifeless in morbid death.

Rising from the earth, of molded clay

having long drawn, this weary soul be

porcelain bones, shattered and tattered

once again giving life for thee

Arise once more from thy slumber

shake forth the binds of an earthen grave

hear the pleas of the downtrodden

and swing mighty thine hardened blade.

Away from the hail of grandeur

trumpets sound in solemn unrelenting hush

I shall stand witness once more

wielding humbly the passion of angst lust.

Absolute affirmation, oft' blinded resolutions,

following faint commitment of a misled heart

beguiled in darkness, led on in false promise

even in loathing the simplest of truths impart.

Then shall the valiant, swollen with pride

take their wounded by self proclaimed decree.

And forever more seek obsequious forgiveness

without questioning, your righteous plea.

Away from the hails of grandeur

righteous trumpets sound in glorious display

the world shall stand witness once more

On the day I was summoned from the earthen clay

I cried, remember me, remember me

When judgment is passed, as in times before

That I rose among the worthy, unashamed

knowing I am forsaken no more.

The musk of the early morning rises

to meet my falling breath..

I shall slumber once more

at peace in death...

I am a fan of rhyme and not. I am a lover of old-time poets whose words were so beautifully spoken that the rhyme seemed to melt into the piece. Often, today, poets do not encompass this particular talent; however, you certainly do. This is a beautifully written poem.

This is timeless in perfection. We are of the earth...and shall return to the earth. If we are lucky...peace will be there...waiting for the tired soul.
