Will you have me... a love song

Will you have me... a love song

A Poem by InkSlinger

My eyes are bedimming
my youth fading.
The wrinkles creep
closer and closer
but I will not fail.

My hair, graying
one strand, then two
lines draw long,
carved deep into my face
but I refuse to relinquish.

My passions tempered
if not dwindled in age
smoothed like a tossed stone
rolled in the ocean's rage
and deposited on a distant beach

My slender body once,
now a thing of the past
replaced with soft knolls
as gravity, and wisdom
pull me down and ground me.

My mind, fully sharp
Never lost in the day's stress
washed away, diluted
wiped clean, relieve of my mysteries
I shall stand proud

My vanities frail
and my heart weak
lonely I have fought
losing the battle of love
but I will not falter.

If you'll have me...
with my simple imperfections.
In every step I will worship you
lying my heart within your hands
and trust your tender beat.

For beautiful music
is not written by one musician alone
only when our words and melody
fixed in pace, marching together
will they sing our love song.

I swear if I did not know your gender I would believe this the work of the female hand, for the honest gentleness of the romantic undercurrent is so tender and so emotional. I love everything about this poem especially the ending what could be better than to share that special song with a heart attuned to yours. keep em' coming

The special someone you speak of is indeed a very lucky lady. Wrap this in a thousand kisses and send it to her and she will be sure to melt into jello.:) Another lovely poem, InkSlinger.
