The corners of a room vacated long ago

The corners of a room vacated long ago

A Poem by InkSlinger

The corners of a room vacated long ago

hold the secrets of this dilapidated life

hidden under the layers of dust

moments happy, and others full of strife.

The windows of a room vacated long ago

refuse to offer even a little hint of light

hidden under the layers of grime

their luster failing, and continually trite.

The walls of a room vacated long ago

hold whispers etched into the paper dressing

of stories long ago forgotten,

as a unreliable witness, always confessing.

The floors of a room vacated long ago

refuse to hold the weight of time any longer

time has left them weak, decayed in unhappiness

trials, tribulations, designed to make them stronger.
