Every tomorrow

Every tomorrow

A Poem by InkSlinger

Sitting here

in the dark alone

I draw in

the last breath

of this dying day.

Hoping your memory

will be enough

to carry me through

the long night

waiting ahead of me.

I wake, early

if sleep, has graced me

willingly kissed me,

with her soothing dust

each morning, tired

looking for traces

hoping for scant morels

happy in the thought

that I will find you

waiting.

I find

Each waking moment

my heart wanders

in and out of you

hoping to find, again

common ground

together, wondering

if tomorrow

we will

still find love.

Love,  even in this haze,

my unwelcome haze

gets a little thicker

when you

are not here,

harder for the sun

to warm my day

when you’re gone.

So, let me keep you

in my thoughts,

surviving

on scant morsels,

hoping, and praying

that every tomorrow

you will be

by my side.
