A Poem by ink
"

How do I keep from drowning

"
I'm looking for a home in the words that threaten to drown me
Competitive swimmer for twenty plus years but how
How do I know where my feet should go, which path is the right one
which choices were the right ones, which ones did I do wrong
Because the ink wrapping tighter around my throat screams
Useless, aimless, lifeless
And the letters that trace my ankles with too sharp points whisper
Useless, aimless, lifeless
The words holding my wrists with no freedom say
Useless, aimless, lifeless
And I don't know how to be anything but less anymore
I can hear the voice of who I should have been
breaking inside my mind, bubbling as it tries to speak around
the white-tipped waves that rage and rage
And I don't know how to keep from drowning
in a world where words exist
