A Poem by inkedvocabulary
"

This July Fourth... think about those that knew what it meant to them to have and hold on to their own freedom- in turn... your own.

"
Old men,
faces with creases,
tight lipped...
from a generation
subjected to war,
unsure and uncertain
how to feel or how to
explain the horrors
and their personal reactions,
sit playing chess
(a game of military strategy)
with a cool breeze passing
as death hovers over their
shoulders...
silence belies their unrest,
unable to speak,
frozen emotions and the
depression of lacking the
ability to whisper the truth.

Could you be as traumatized as they are... or have been? Happy Fourth of July, 2014.
