CJD (Not a Disease, But a Person)A Poem by InkBlackA poem about a friend I met on a mission trip with a lot of issues. If you read this and know who you are friend, that's cool :)As a congregation of twenty sit together, He sits in solitude on a bench. Tears fall from his sad sage eyes, Tales of adversity escape from his lips, And the audience rests mute.
My heart bleeds for him. I relate to him, For similar things have happened to me. But his story has darker chapters, Than any in mine.
I welcome him into my arms, To let him know somebody cares. As he enters my embrace, I can feel him smile as his head touches mine.
As tempted as I am to heal his wounds, I feel compelled to flee his side. He lies in the grasses of a dark world, A world I recently departed, And never wish to revisit.
But I cannot leave. Every time I attempt to flee, The grass blades snatch my feet, And drag me back to him, Where his sad sage eyes leave me back to where I started. © 2011 InkBlackAuthor's Note
