Night to Day to NightA Poem by InkBlackI decided to write a rhyming poem just for the heck of it, and to make my writing club's advisor mad ;)I’m handed a rose as black as night Its ebony petals shine in the moonlight The thorns prick my fingers I squint as the blood lingers
I gaze at the indigo sky The constellations create entertainment for my eyes And as I watch the sunrise I mourn the night’s demise
The sun paints the sky orange and red Bringing life for the dead It transforms into a pale blue And the golden sun melts the morning dew
The sunset paints the sky purple and pink My tired eyes begin to blink It’s time for sleeping Descend into slumber to the sound of the nocturnal birds peeping
The grass is my bed and the reeds are my sheets And the next morning this will all repeat © 2010 InkBlack |
