My ReligionA Poem by InkBlackI wrote this when I was a Christian, and a lot of it still reigns true to me and my current lifestyle and beliefs. I think we should all believe this, Christian or not.
Kindness is my religion I love my neighbors as myself My neighbors are the entire human race Not just a few exclusive people Tolerance is my religion All groups may enter my circle As long as they are kind to all creatures of the earth No innocent person will be shunned from me Forgiveness is my religion I get mad when you cross my path Vengeance rots my loving heart But love and mercy erase the decay Freedom is my religion Everyone is free to be whatever they want to be We are not all the same, and why should we be? We are given the gift of free will, not programmed to be the same Happiness is my religion Only through prayer and meditation will I be truly happy Worldly pleasures may fill the emptiness inside my soul But they leave as quickly as they came Peace is my religion No war or fight will solve anything We all deserve peace and tranquility And I pray that we obtain the freedom to live without fear This is my religion Do with it what you will But I will never abandon it Because it is the only way of life that works for me © 2009 InkBlack |
