Fasting for Fall

Fasting for Fall

A Poem by Ingy
"

Written in late Fall, 2008, for a very beloved person in my life.

"

Humboldt mornings,
autumn time.
Sleek silver fog and
vaporessence outside my window--
The cool mists promise
early rain;
cleanses the oil from my wings,
brings your scent on the wind,
brings you back home

To me,
you came in on
smoky alder leaves
changed by the season and
burnt terracotta-red;
I see you outside my window,
arms open,
and I am
brought back home;

Brought to you,
who comes
when the season is right.
Always, it is lovely.
And when the times are perfect,
We dance, tidal, with the moon--
Women, firstly by the white of our skins.
Together, we are formed, like clay,
Molded perfectly
To each others arms

We remember it is only us
in the rain.
Autumn skins
washed clean--
You and I,
washed clean.

Devoted, Fall lovers; full moon ladies
Perfected by the waters and the trees:
Kindred;
souls in unity.
