What We Are

What We Are

A Poem by Leanne

We are all complex beings,

Wishing we could just fly away with our thoughts,

Or climb to the depths of a well to think.

Sometimes unsure if our feelings are our own,

We wonder how others can control us with their words,

Even after convincing ourselves: no one's opinion matters.

Pushing our insecurities into our unconscious,

Hoping they won't swim up to take a breath.

Sometimes we think so much,

We actually feel detached from our bodies,

Which is nothing but a shell to hold our spirits.

About
My name is Leanne. I don't write as much as I once did: perhaps it means that my mental health is a lot better than it was when I did write a lot or that I just have people who I can go to if I need t.. more..
