Red pens and inky marks.A Poem by Secondhand TinkA poem about imperfection and not being able to escape it. Mild references to bulimia.Strategic camera angles make for pointed chins, Careful now, hold that stomach right in, Edit it later on Photoshop, And dream oh dream of what you could be, But sadly for us Mia can see right through you and me. She marks off imperfections in red pens and marks, ‘There’s no room for an ounce of sympathy!’ she barks, ‘So gouge your throat, do be a dear, Why deny your weakness? There’s nothing to fear.’ Perfection in a reflection is all we need to be free.
