Mistress Red

Mistress Red

A Poem by Alexandra Lou
"

My personification, of the beautiful red.

"

I can steal your husband in the dead of the night

Watch him bite the fruit of my temptation, wet and ripe

I am in creation, I am in the sheets where two lovers lay.

I can live inside of you, I shall never go, serenity shall never stay.

I am depicted in tales of evil and woe, the devil they say -

She wears a mask of my fro.

I am the life of the wife that spills on the floor

After her man catches her with the boy next door.

I am danger, I am risk, I am the sky at night for a shephards delight.

But most of all, in the deepest, darkest dimensions of your soul

I lay sleeping, Mistress Red, and wake to defend the ones you love,

To protect their every existance, and to fill their days with joy

A father to his girl, A mother to her boy.

I am love and taboo and passion and risk and danger.

I am woman.

I am red.
