union station at sunset

union station at sunset

union station at sunset

I have no real words for the glowing streetlamps hovering

above the slickened road

or the sky as it drips a perfect gradient into

the forgiving arms of the horizon

blending into its warm, light embrace

as I do into yours

there is vulnerability beneath all this symmetry

night a dampening blanket under which

I can breathe easier

all sounds sound quieter tonight,

all the light drank up by the eyes of the passerby

for a moment -

hello, how are you?

could I know you as more than a smirk, a shudder, a glance

over your shoulder?

in as long as it takes me to wonder

they are already gone

beams of borrowed light guiding them

sky folds into the jutting scrapes of the city

softening the ache

drifting off together

as you and I do

here my eyes follow the muted streams of light

and watch as the shadows swallow them whole

lua
beautiful imagery, there is such an innocent love to this with small melancholic hints, i love both your writing style and the structure
