FatherA Poem by RickDedicated to my father who passed away from cancer in 1976 when I was only 10 years old.Another very important person besides a mother, A person a child loves just as much, One who most kids want to be like; it is their father, I loved my father a bunch. I never really got to know my father, God took him away when I was ten, Myself and my two sisters where raised by our mother, I can't remember a whole lot; my memory is running thin. I was mt fathers little helper most of the time, I always wanted to be like him when I gew up, He was held hostage by cancer like he had committed a crime, He loved showing dogs very much; some were just pups. He had won trophies and ribbons from many dog shows, Fishing and hunting were his best things, Why cancer filled his body no one knows, Grief and sorrow it did bring. Doctors gave him four to six years, Over that time he slowly dwindled away, On February 5th, 1976 he drew his last breath; that brought tears, I miss my father very much and that is all I can say. So for those whose fathers are still living, Go to him and give him a big hug and look into his eyes, Tell him you love him and always will; as for me I am still grieving, If you wait to long it will be to late and it will make you cry. Honor your father like your mother, You never know when he will be gone, Spend time with your father, Respect hime very much before you have none. My father will always be in my thoughts, I will cherish him forever just like my mother, Kindness and caring to his family and friends he had brought, I will always miss, love and respect my father. © 2014 Rick |
