Elusive words

Elusive words

A Poem by Inda

Elusive words keep running,
Speaking,
Eating,
Laughing.
Quickly they scatter,
engage in mindless chatter,
wander
and hide the answer
To the question put forth.
seek the south,
they point north.
seek value, they seek worth.
Elusive words keep running,
Shushing,
Drinking,
Crying.

don't think it is the words that are elusive in this life... it is the meaning behind them... all about perception.. and how "deep" people are willing to "look"... most are too selfish, shallow, and "busy" to take the time to do this... like you say---"quickly they scatter engage in mindless chatter"... superficial and self-serving who are too busy looking at what THEY want to see what other people NEED... of course there are those who "hide" what they mean to say in fear to just be blunt and come out with the truth... that said another wonderful write... this one has such a disappointed, frustrated tone... it tugged on my heartstrings as I know just how this feels.. you do it again sir.. may be short, few words, but they are POWERFUL, moving and meaningful... love it!!!

I really liked reading this piece! It was very thought provoking and poignant and I loved how you wrote it at the start with the 'positive' you could say verbs and then you ended it with the complete opposite. Really strong!

This gave me the image of Charles Bukowski chasing words up the street while holding an old, manual type writer over his head. No, I don't know why either.
