The Importance of Structure

My old Higschool english teacher.

Her countenance was hard and bitter.
She spoke of the importance of structure;
something which one must always consider.
This was her upmost concern,
nevermind the metaphors, keep up the form!

Poetry is so personal, I think. Everyone should just write from the heart, and structure is important, (for some)... but there are always natural gifted writers, like you, who dance with their words in mind, and there comes music to the page, once written... :) I personally prefer that more. ;)

Totally agree with you Eli, while structure is important in other types of writing, poetry allows some wiggle room. Thanks for the kind words, means a lot! :)

Structure is important, but once in awhile, you gotta break it.

Yep. I've never been a huge fan of structure, but I remember my old english teacher constantly speaking about it.
