A Promise To You

A Promise To You

A Poem by Inda

I've Got no words,
No songs or chords.

Nothing as far as an excuse.
I Bet you think my shame is just a cheap ruse,

But I swear it has cost me sleep,
the promise I made to you, but could not keep.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. The profound effect of failure, compounded by the powerful effects of shame, can eat away at our hearts. It will plague our soul, torment our psyche, and debilitate our actions.. Sometimes people are so hurt by the fact that you let them down to realize how much pain the other person is in as a result of this failure... nicely done.

I could really relate to this ! I remember the promises I make my parents, my mom mainly, and how I never seem to keep them. I understand that we all make mistakes, but is there something wrong with one who makes them all too often? More than others would like or expect? This brought back a lot of memories, but I enjoyed it! Keep up the good work :)

Awe, Inda, this is full of sorrow and touched my heart. Sometimes we can't keep our promises and we need to understand that... I loved this one.

Little spelling mishap 'nothig' -- 'nothing'

Great write. I'm sure the majority of us can identify with this thought to some extent..to have something on our mind causing us restless nights. Good work.
