Rum/Run

 

Not impressed,

is that your best?

Give it a rest,

you’re pressed

for time,

out of line.

It’s your right,

but you’re wrong tonight

isn’t about fun.

Tonight poetry is on the run.

tonight is about the bottle

and yellow

shots that end up clear;

she’s not here.

But tonight’s about the rum,

tonight I forget who she was and where she’s gone.

The way alcohol can dwell on a delirium cloud,
All away, into the next day...
It is hard to see, and you have captured this
With true grace, and in (my opinion) love for someone
