A Veteran's Joke

A Veteran's Joke

A Veteran’s Joke

No one laughed at the joke

the man told as he spoke

of the war

and the scar

on his back.

No one except

this fool who didn’t expect

to hear a joke like that!

All eyes on me like starlight,

the speaker smiled; a relief, a sigh.

If he made the joke it's probably good that you laughed, I'm sure he was pleased that someone got it. Often in life it is better to make light of the horror we face and the trials we go through. Sometimes humour keeps us alive. A thought provoking write.

It is good i laughed; it doesn't come across clearly though.
I guess it could have gone either way. In the end, it seems the speaker appreciated that someone got it. Really interesting read, Inda. Thanks for sharing it with us.
