Remember Me

Remember Me

A Poem by Lisa

REMEMBER ME

Remember me when you kiss her

Remember me when you spoon

Remember me when you touch her

Out under the silvery moon.

Remember me when you’re dancing

Remember me when you smile

When dawn breaks upon the horizon

Stop and think of me for a while.

Remember me in your laughter

Remember me in the light

And send me a wish from time to time

When you gaze at the stars at night.

Just think of me by the seaside

Or dancing outside in the rain

Or gathering wildflowers to my breast

On some sun-kissed, grassy plain.

And when, at the end, all the moments we dreamed

Have truly, at last, passed us by,

And the well of ‘what ifs,’ fed by countless goodbyes

Like water on sand has run dry;

Remember me when I was lovely

For once, I was young and free

And willing to love you forever

If only then you had loved me.

Remember in every moment of strife

When you doubt choices made, like I do

For, I can assure you, the love of my life

That’ I’ll be remembering you.

You really know how to create a rhythmic piece. It's so nice to read.

What a lovely, beautifully written piece. Nice message, imagery, everything is put together so well. Though I have a tiny critique: I think you could just leave out the "and" before "and send me a wish". The nr of syllables is a little bit; only one, too long and I sort of stumbled upon it while reading. Otherwise, great rhyme scheme and pretty words.
