Somewhere Along the Way

Somewhere Along the Way

A Poem by incourage

I forgot what I was looking for

Somewhere along the way

lost it in the emptiness

Of endless summer days

So long ago when youth was young

Who knew it wouldn’t stay?

But time moves ever on

And has brought us to this day

When golden hair has long since gone

Now faded ever gray

And our journey now more a memory

Than either care to say

I see you now as I saw you then

Despite the passing days

And I long for you like I did back when

Somewhere along the way

Your poem is very well done. I like the four verses of four lines each and the way they rhyme. But, even more so, I really appreciate the smooth flow of thought describing the progression of old age. The writing is lucid and easy to understand. I read it to my wife and she suggested that it might have been created for an anniversary, or something. Nice job.

I love the feeling of growing older. I feel even though I am still very young I already miss the past. This brought me back for a little bit, thank you. Keep it up
