I Dream Of The Moon

I Dream Of The Moon

A Poem by incompleteicarus

I dreamt about you last night.
We were sat in a field of clover
Looking at a full moon, daisies entwined
With your hair and the crimson blush of
Rose settled on your lips.

I said I loved you, you said you loved
The revolution, and then laughed.
You told me you loved me,
I told you I loved to drink, and laughed.

You looked worried, sad almost,
But it passed and you were smiling again.
You smile a lot in my dreams.
I lay back in the clover and looked at the moon,
You looked at the moon too.
Something told me we were seeing it differently.

I asked what you saw; you said a beautiful
Symbol of hope and aspirations.
When you asked what I saw, I shook my head.
I couldn't tell you I saw a dead rock
In a void that would kill us, after that.

I woke up at four am,
Feeling more alone than I had in a while.
I climbed out of bed,
Saw the moon
And thought of you.
