Be Prepared FOR EXAMS

I based this off of the Lion King song, "Be prepared" which kept going through my head as I was studying for my tests. Always the procrastinator...

I know it sounds sordid

but what if I hoarded

all the great brains this century knew

okay, all right, fine,

I'll choose the best known few

I never thought studying essential

its boring and tedious; its true

but maybe i'll unearth lost potential

if I study these ruddy textbook anew

these pages of pages are still plain

and are taxing my unstudious brain

I try without hopes of retention

I may be thick; I just cant pay attention

bad grades will come with latent stride

and my parents'll skin my live hide

in saying one would think I'd, 

my priorities change

but my thoughts dont focus--they're idle range

still my face holds a vacant expression

so sleeps this mind free of tension

"some say that the lights are off upstairs"

but I say I've only been caught unawares

so for them damn exams i try to prepare 

ward off laziness--pummle the wear

But alas I lack the proper motivation

studies are integrated with frusteration

well at least I should stop writing...

although that damned book is less than inviting

but still I must...BE PREPARED...

I simply loved this poem. Anybody who's a college student can surely relate to this poem. You've really captured that feeling of urgency to study and do well and yet the lack of motivation due to the rigidity of higher education. Major major props to you.
