Paradoxically Inconsequential

Paradoxically Inconsequential

A Poem by Christine

Life looms leisurely and lazily

But I swear to you it stopped briefly

Just to roundhouse kick me in the face

That night I tried to get it drunk

Off the prospect of love.

You’re all the times I thought my eyes might be blue instead of green with envy,

The split ends a haircut won’t remedy,

The bruise on my arm,

The lash lodged in my eye,

The pimple protruding from my nose just to remind me I can never tell a lie.

You’re the song you always hear on the radio but never listen to;

Familiar, but paradoxically inconsequential.

You're a one hit wonder

And I don’t know if there is anything else your band can play

That would make me want to listen.

I think the title should be "Paradoxically Inconsequential" I liked the phrasing on that I have met some many in my weird life that are like that.
