Hang Nails

Hang Nails

A Poem by Christine

It was impossible for me to notice the hang nail on your right index finger;
we were holding hands before we had the chance to make it

point out the problem.

had I known the friction of our bodies would crack open your skin,
I would have told you to keep your fingernails short
so dirt wouldn't get underneath them

This is funny. It's strange the things we notice.
