I'm not a musician

I'm not a musician

A Poem by Christine

We've been comfortable with the sad songs
feeling like loneliness was made for us
because it's beautiful in its own right
But we didn't progress like guitar chords.
How did it sound
when I tried to play you happier notes?
It scared me too.

Nicely written, nicely expressed.

Nice write, all the possibilities and taking that leap of faith. I'd get rid of 'the' in the first line, it'll flow better. Charming little read.

I feel empathy here as well. I like what you did with the simile about the progression of guitar cords. I suppose when we have heard so many sad songs, it is hard to convince ourselves that those different notes actually exists. But even though we are scared, it is worth a try. Thank you for this.
