Free Falling

Free Falling

A Poem by impuls
"

--but the ground rushes at us and I'm not a safe choice so you pull the chute and free falling the tears hit the ground first and soon... soon... I may still fly without you.

"

A foot in the door, a bag in hand

The car is packed and I'm leaving.

You smile like its nothing

and softly I sing...

"You don't know know me and you don't even care..."

We sat on the couch face to face

When your eyes said, "I love you,"

And you told me...

"Fixing this in my memory"

then, "Don't give me that look."

And I wiped it from my face,

Like what we once had, gone.

Memories

a night on the couch

a look, a touch, a risk, a leap

of faith

We could still fly

but the ground rushes at us and I'm not a safe choice so you pull the chute and free falling the tears hit the ground first and soon... soon... I may still fly without you.

I said I love you. I still love. You.

You. I said.

And I can't choose, you said.

Take this for what it is. And I did

But every time you walk out the door it's a choice

(And you choose to leave).

Does she infuriate you, love you, smile at you, laugh with you...

(like I did?)

I am not in your closet.

Not hanging around.

Not second choice.

I am not waiting.

(And I love you).

But the door closes and I said goodbye, but you didn't hear and now its gone.

And I fly.
