Palimpsest

Palimpsest

A Poem by foxcryptids

Rewrite my life
and
Scrape me clean.
Erase these ugly lines
worn by time.
Transform me.
Let me live a day
not as myself.
As something more
than myself.
For I have been changing
and changing
and changing
but always in the same ways.
I don't know
how to be anyone
more than myself.
They tell me this is great
grand
but I whisper softly
what if I don't know who I am?

I loved the first few lines up until transform me. I thought it was going to be a lyrical poem, but I felt like it lost its rhythm after that. Not sure if that’s what you meant. It’s fine if you did, everyone has their own style. Loved the question at the end to make the reader reflect. Only other things are spelling errors: “Palimpsest” you missed the ‘p’ and you wrote “theses” instead of “these”.
