Let me take your Pain

Let me take your Pain

A Story by foxcryptids

There was a legend. A story, told to children at night to scare them into being good,  a story that haunted their parents to even repeat: There was once a storm. A storm so great it rattled the earth to its very core. Lightning struck the ground and erupted in a wall of fire, entrapping everyone for a hundred miles. The fire burned for a hundred years, the screams of those trapped who never died, but suffered for a century. Until, one day the fire disappeared, and all that stood in its wake was a child. A girl. The same red circle of fire in her eyes, and the same crashing waves in her soul. It was said that the girl took upon each and every soul that perished in the fire, knowing from the moment of her creation, the suffering and death of an entire people. But she didn’t know death. Not quite. She was death. And as she grew, the world forgot the pain that was once there. She had allowed it to forget, for she was the memory and in herself she hid the horrors so that the world would not have to.
